Roadrunner Pool Services › Remodeling & replaster
Replaster, quartz, pebble, tile, and coping. Licensed CSLB C-53 #1063945, permitted where required.
Plaster that scrapes feet and snags suits has lost its top layer. It also grabs algae and scale.
Mineral and metal staining set into the surface. Acid washing buys a little time, and thins the plaster doing it.
Plaster lifting from the shell. Tap it and it sounds hollow. It only spreads.
Gray patches or rust bleeding through mean the plaster is gone in that spot and rebar is getting wet.
Often goes with a replaster since the pool is drained anyway. Cheaper to do it once.
Old, rough plaster holds algae and throws off chemistry. Sometimes the surface is the problem, not the water.
| Finish | Feel and look | Typical life here | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| White plaster | Classic smooth white; shows stains and scale soonest | Shortest. Hard desert water and heat are tough on it without good chemistry | Lowest |
| Quartz aggregate | Smooth with color flecks; hides staining better | Longer than plain plaster | Middle |
| Pebble | Textured, natural look in many colors; most stain-resistant | Longest. Holds up best to hard water, sun, and heavy use | Highest |
Samples are at the store. Bring a photo of your pool and we'll show you what each looks like under water in the sun.
We scope in person before quoting so the number holds. If chip-out uncovers something, you hear about it with a price before anyone keeps going.
We look at the surface, tile, coping, and equipment together and write up the scope and price.
Old plaster comes off. This is when hidden problems show up, and when they get priced.
Waterline tile, step treads, spillways, coping stone, and any shell repairs.
Plaster, quartz, or pebble applied by the finish crew, then the fill starts the same day.
Roadrunner runs the startup: brushing, balanced chemistry, and a no-swim window while the surface cures.
Cracked or missing waterline tile, loose coping stones, failed grout and mastic. Often a lowered-water-level job, not a full drain.
Calcium scale on the waterline tile, removed by bead blasting or hand descaling depending on the tile. Desert water puts it back over time; a yearly clean keeps it in check.
Step and deck rails core-drilled and set in the deck, with the anchor and bonding done right. Ladders and grab rails too.
The first month after new plaster decides how it looks in year five. We run the brushing and chemistry on remodels and new builds, ours or another contractor's.
Before
AfterPool and spa replaster. New waterline tile, tiled step treads, and a rebuilt spa spillway.
Before
AfterCoping, tile, and plaster. New coping stone, patterned Talavera-style tile, and fresh plaster on the pool and raised spa.
Before
AfterFairway-side replaster. Filling the morning it was finished. Existing stone and waterline tile kept as-is.
For a straightforward replaster, plan on the pool being out of use for a couple of weeks: drain and chip-out, any tile or coping work, the new surface, then filling and the startup period. Bigger scopes with new coping and tile run longer. We give you a schedule with the quote.
Yes. Plaster crews work early and the heat is manageable with the right timing. Fill water and startup chemistry need more attention in summer, and we handle that. Many customers plan remodels for the shoulder seasons when the pool is used less.
Where the city requires one, yes: equipment, gas, electrical, and structural work. A like-for-like replaster usually doesn't need one, and we'll tell you which applies. All of it is performed under CSLB C-53 license #1063945. Ask any contractor for their license number and check it on the CSLB site before you sign anything.
It fixes surface problems: rough, stained, delaminating, or cracked plaster. It does not fix plumbing leaks, a leaking light niche, or structural cracks in the shell. If we suspect any of those, we find them before the plaster goes on, not after.
White plaster is the lowest cost and shortest life. Quartz aggregate adds durability and color options. Pebble finishes last longest and hold up best to hard desert water and heavy use. We'll walk you through samples at the store.
New plaster cures under water for about a month. That first stretch of brushing, balanced chemistry, and no swimming for the first days decides how the finish looks in year five. Roadrunner handles the startup so it's done right.
Yes. Cracked tile, loose coping, calcium removal on the waterline, and handrail installs are all standalone jobs, usually done with the water level lowered rather than the pool drained.

Pool and spa rails installed ordered over a month ago. Was called twice saying ready to install tomorrow, when install schedule for 8/14. Pool rail not available on 8/14 install date. You have a scheduling/communication problem. Install team was fine.

Your on-site workmanship is wonderful. I enjoy working with your Staff. You’re on-site workmanship is wonderful. I enjoy working with your Staff. On the other hand your invoicing method that I just experienced is awful! I get an invoice on July 29 indicating the payment was due on July 28! I got another invoice today indicating I am two days past due.
